Here’s a quick comparison of the old vs. new format:

Real-Life Video Scenarios

Instead of just reading questions, learners will now watch video clips of real driving situations and answer questions based on them.

This shift helps improve hazard awareness and decision-making skills that matter on Manchester’s busy roads.

Hazard Perception in All Weather Conditions

For the first time, hazard perception will cover:

  • Night-time driving
  • Rainy and foggy conditions

Its been know to rain in Manchester(!) and the weather can change quickly, this update will make sure you’re truly road-ready.

Eco-Driving & Electric Vehicle Safety

Electric cars are becoming more common and the new theory test reflects that.

Learners will now be tested on:

  • Safe EV operation
  • Efficient driving habits
  • Environmental awareness

This knowledge is essential for the future of driving.

Updated Highway Code Rules

The test will now align with all 2025 Highway Code updates, including:

  • Cyclist and pedestrian priority
  • Smart motorways (like the M60 and M62)
  • New mobile phone usage laws

We make sure every learner who chooses us is fully prepared for these updated rules.

New DVSA Booking Portal

The DVSA will also launch a new portal where you can:

  • Book your theory test
  • Track your study progress
  • Access personalised learning tools

Our driving instructors can walk you through how to use the portal and make the most of it once it goes live.

How to Prepare

Here’s how learner drivers can prepare:

  • Use DVSA-approved mobile apps and online tools
  • Practice with video-based mock tests
